RCN Metro opens new colocation facility in Newark, New Jersey

RCN Metro Optical Networks, a division of RCN Corporation and a provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, has announced the availability of its new high density colocation facility located Newark, New Jersey.
With the addition of this facility, RCN Metro now offers colocation services in 24 facilities located throughout the company's footprint, including locations in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Chicago-area regions.
According to the company, this carrier-class colocation center is a fully secure, temperature-controlled facility, offering power-ready racks, cabinets, and bulk space. It features advanced power and HVAC systems capable of handling the demands of high density server technologies.
Felipe Alvarez, president of RCN Metro, said: "With many of the major financial exchanges moving into New Jersey, we strategically positioned this facility to ensure our ability to provide trading companies the closest possible solution with high bandwidth connectivity to the RCN Metro network and major financial exchanges in order to ensure the lowest possible latency."
