Shenandoah Telecommunications Company, also known as Shentel, a Sprint PCS affiliate of Sprint Nextel, has announced the addition of a new antenna designed to enhance and expand broadband mobile network coverage in York County, Pennsylvania.
According to Shentel, in 2009, it is committing over 41% of its $73 million capital budget to finance the infrastructure investments needed to bring wireless voice and internet at fast speeds to all its service areas, including previously uncovered regions.
Christopher French, president and CEO of Shentel, said: "Across our entire mid-Atlantic coverage area, Shentel has added 68 new cell sites in the past year and spent over $34 million in infrastructure improvements. With each installation, thousands of individuals and businesses gain new or improved access to the power of the Sprint network. This access helps us keep pace with growing consumer demand for mobile broadband services."
