July 6, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Mikros Systems Corp. (OTCBB: MKRS) (Current Market Cap: $6.04 Mil.) has received a contract valued at $225,000for engineering and development of distance support applications for U.S. Navy radars.

The contract is for the definition of the interface for distance support applications for the Navy's common digital sensor architecture program. Mikros' work will take place over the next eight months.

Under the award, Mikros will provide engineering and technical support tasks relating to the advancement of distance support capabilities for the program. The objective is to develop a common interface design for legacy radar systems related to Distance Support. The interface will be used to automate support processes.

Distance support of complex electronic systems helps reduce the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain equipment, and improves the quality, quantity, and compatibility of collected field data, according to Midros.

It also increases the U.S. Navy's capability to collect, process, and transfer off-ship all relevant reliability, maintainability, and availability, logistics, readiness, and other data required to implement cost-effective sustainability strategies.

Princeton, New Jersey-based Mikros Systems is a technology company specializing in the research and development of electronic systems technology primarily for military applications.

The company's capabilities include technology management, electronic systems engineering and integration, radar systems engineering, combat and command, control, communications, computers and intelligence systems engineering, and communications engineering.
