GE Security granted TSA certification for Itemiser DX explosives detector

GE Security Inc, part of GE Enterprise Solutions (NYSE:GE), said on Tuesday that its Itemiser DX explosives detection technology has been awarded certification by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The product detects controlled and/or threat substances, providing results in seconds, and comes in a compact package with a folding touch-screen. In order to achieve TSA certification it completed extensive operational testing in a live airport environment, GE Security said.

The Itemiser DX is based on Ion Trap Mobility Spectrometer (ITMS) technology.
