Diodes Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of application specific standard products within the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, announced it has introduced a family of three LED drivers that provide a small form factor solution for small LCD screens used across a range of portable consumer electronics, such as portable media players, personal navigation devices and digital photo frames.
The AP572x DC-DC boost LED driver is designed for LCD screens that are less than five inches and require uniform backlighting by LEDs. Driving the LEDs in series ensures constant screen brightness. A 1.2MHz switching frequency enables the AP572x to utilize smaller value inductors, and the compact 2mmx2mm device footprint optimizes the LED backlighting solution size for small LCD screens that are used in a host of different systems.
The AP572x LED driver family is offered in SOT23-6 and TDFN2020C-6 packages. The SOT23-6 packaged devices are direct replacements for existing industry standard parts, and the 0.1V, 0.25V and 0.31V feedback voltage options provide design engineers further versatility. The TDFN2020C-6 packaged devices allow PCB area savings. Device operating ambient temperature range is from -40 to 85oC. AP572x family devices are available through standard distribution channels.
