SmarTrend(R) News Watch: Lockheed Awarded F-16 Training Contracts

Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) announced Thursday that it was granted $33 million in contracts from the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard Bureau to train pilots to fly the F-16 fighter jet. Jim Weitzel, vice president of flight solutions for Lockheed Martin's training and simulation unit, said, "Lockheed Martin has supported the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard training program since 2002, training approximately 500 students a year . . . We will continue our commitment to deliver the best training available today and will work with our customers to reinvent how we prepare their students for challenges they may face tomorrow." Shares of Lockheed Martin are up 0.2% Thursday.
