National Instruments introduced low-cost PXI Express chassis and controller options for automated test and measurement applications, including the NI PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers and the NI PXIe-1073 chassis.
"Since the initial release of the PXI Express standard in 2005, National Instruments has delivered a wide range of PXI Express solutions to test engineers seeking increased performance and a lower cost for test systems," said Eric Starkloff, vice president of test marketing at NI. "We are committed to the PXI Express standard and to growing our selection of products. Our latest PXI Express chassis and embedded controllers offer the added performance of PXI Express data transfer rates to a variety of cost-sensitive application areas such as multi-channel data acquisition systems, high-speed real-time control systems and high-resolution mixed-signal test and measurement systems."
National Instruments stated that the NI PXIe-1073 chassis, which features an integrated remote controller, lowers the system entry point to PXI Express by 42 percent compared to previous PXI Express systems with similar capabilities. The chassis features five PXI Express hybrid slots that accept both PXI and PXI Express modules, such as the new National Instruments X Series PXI Express data acquisition modules, to maximize system flexibility. The chassis provides 250 MB/s of total system bandwidth and an integrated MXI Express controller with PCI Express host controller card and cable. It also features built-in timing and synchronization connections integrated into its backplane. Adding to its flexibility, the chassis is compatible with NI LabVIEW graphical system design software, NI TestStand test management software and other software systems that optimize automated test, measurement and control applications.
National Instruments explained that the NI PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers can address the needs of test engineers who require a high-value PXI Express solution that couples the PC and chassis in a self-contained system. The NI PXIe-8102 features a dual-core 1.9 GHz Intel Celeron T3100 processor, and the NI PXIe-8101 includes a single-core 2.0 GHz Intel Celeron 575 processor. Integrating these controllers into a PXI Express chassis, such as the NI PXIe-1062Q or PXIe-1082, provides engineers with a compact, high-value platform that delivers up to 1 GB/s of total system bandwidth and up to 250 GB/s of single-slot bandwidth. The combination of high system and slot bandwidth, the latest Intel processors and a lower price point makes these controllers ideal for value-based test, measurement and control applications.
