US Embassy Welcomes New Staff Members

The US Embassy in the Gambia last Saturday held a reception and cocktail party for three new staff members from the United States of America (USA).
The reception, held at the newly built Coco Ocean Hotel in Bijilo, coincided with the embassy's annual Jazz appreciation month. The newly appointed members of staff at the Embassy in Banjul are Martin Mayers - information management specialist, Mkie Fitz Patrick - head of the Consular section, and Cindy Gregg, new deputy chief of mission. Barry L Wells, American Ambassador to the Republic of The Gambia, welcomed the three new staff members to the Smiling Coast of Africa, The Gambia.
The new staffers where welcomed amid much merry with jazz music supplied by the famous American jazz band - "Batin Band". The US Ambassador gave a detailed historical overview of the origin and role of jazz music in America, Europe and Africa. The reception brought together officials from the US Embassy in The Gambia, legal practitioners, journalists, as well as musicians and jazz music lovers.
