Vodafone Changing Face of Mobile Telephony in Ghana

Vodafone, formerly Ghana Telecom, says the evolution of Ghana Telecom to Vodafone was expected to involve a process of transformation that would result in the re-structuring of the business in line with best practices.

In a statement to the press, the company said the restructuring exercise will streamline the business and provide it with the agility and strength to be able to compete successfully for the benefit of customers and shareholders.

The statement which gave a history of Vodafone Ghana said, it is an operating company of Vodafone Group Plc, the world's leading mobile telecommunications company with branches in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the United States.

The statement also said Vodafone does not only offer services in mobile and fixed lines but also in internet, voice and data.

According to the statement, ongoing network expansion and quality utilization amongst host of other activities have resulted in landmark improvements in service provision.

Since its takeover, Vodafone has created over 7000 direct and indirect jobs in sales and distribution throughout the country.

Fault resolution time, said the statement has also been enhanced with most fixed lines repaired the same day while corporate business is also showing strong growth.

The statement also revealed that customers have the chance of winning several rewards amounting to a US$1,000,000 in the Vodafone promotions ranging from a four bedroom furnished house at Trassacco Valley, a Mitsubishi Pajero,laptops ,Vodafone braded iPods and phones, loads of airtime to a 2-year educational scholarships.

The statement also said Vodafone has as part of its mission to increase the current existing network capacity of 30% to 100% before the end of the year.
