Adtran, a provider of networking solutions, announced that Mid-Maine Communications and Pine Tree Networks, a Division of Otelco, a supplier of telephone and Internet service to consumers and businesses throughout New England, has selected Adtran's flagship product, the Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) for Broadband Digital Loop Carrier (BBDLC) and Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) applications.
"We were looking for a flexible solution that would allow us to take advantage of the efficiencies of Ethernet and begin the migration to next-generation services for our residential and business customers. The plan was to deploy equipment from several vendors until we found the Total Access 5000," said Robert Ashley, director of capital budgets and planning for Mid-Maine Communications and Pine Tree Networks. "Having a single platform to deploy both Carrier Ethernet and broadband services significantly minimizes our training, spares, and footprint. Adtran is really offering something no other vendor can with the Total Access 5000."
"Service providers like Mid-Maine Communications and Pine Tree Networks are searching for ways to economically and efficiently transform their network to deliver next-generation services and the Total Access 5000 is the perfect solution," said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, Adtran Carrier Networks Division. "The ability to support multiple services from a single platform uniquely allows the Total Access 5000 to improve the business case for next-generation service delivery."
According to company officials, the Total Access 5000 is an Ethernet-based multiservice access and aggregation platform providing a solution for all voice, data and video needs over any copper or fiber-based facilities.
