IBM: GBS Not to Cut Jobs in China

A person from IBM denied the rumor that IBM Global Business Services (GBS), IBM's consulting unit, will slash jobs in China.
She did not get knows about the layoff after contacting with GBS, explained the person. In stead, she emphasized that IBM has been enhancing investments in China, an emerging marketing for the company, since 2009. The company successively set up Global Rail Innovation Center and China Analytics Solution Center in the country. In addition, it actively boosted expansion in the country's second- and third-tier cities.
In March 2009, GBS was reported to open four new offices in the Mainland China in the coming one year, an effort to speed up the growth of its China business despite an economic slowdown. It is scheduled to set up the four offices in Shenyang, Xi'an, Wuhan, and Jinan.
Asking saying on GBS job cut in North America, the person said the move is a normal employee adjustment.
