Cablevision Enhances Interactive iO TV Features With Launch Of iO Shortcuts

Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today announced the launch of iO Shortcuts, an innovative enhancement providing easy one-click access to popular iO TV(R) content including exclusive interactive and on demand local news, traffic and weather updates from News 12, current information on important service enhancements, upcoming events and the hottest new release movies available to iO TV customers.

"With instant access to top VOD titles, constantly refreshed local news, traffic and weather updates, and an increasing array of programming choices available to iO TV customers, iO Shortcuts enhances the viewer experience by providing access to a broad array of interactive, popular content with just one-click," said Gary Schanman, Cablevision's senior vice president of video product management. "Cablevision continues to leverage the capacity of our advanced Optimum network to deliver innovative consumer-facing enhancements that increase the functionality and value of our entire suite of award-winning services."

To access iO Shortcuts, customers simply press the red "C" button near the front of the iO TV remote control. Upon activation, iO Shortcuts allows users to access a variety of content categories located at the bottom of the television screen while continuing to view the current program.

iO Shortcuts launched this month across the company's entire service area with the following categories:

Local Offers fast access to interactive and VOD news, traffic and weather updates from News 12, including current news, local weather forecasts and up-to-the-minute information on area road advisories and incidents.

Top Picks Highlights top selling on demand titles in standard and high-definition, corresponding with content available from the Top Picks category of the Movies On Demand menu.

Coming Soon Features upcoming programming events, including new box office hits available on demand.

Showcase Focuses on promotions, movies, new services and more.

Updates Alerts customers to important service-related announcements, including channel launches and location changes, service enhancements and more.

With more than 2.9 million iO TV customers, nearly 94 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 400 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 46 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 6,000 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, more than 100 channels of free HD and uniquely valuable and relevant interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive. Viewing high-definition programming generally requires a high-definition cable box or CableCARD and an HD-ready television set. A full array of HD VOD movies are also available, starting at $4.95 for a 24-hour rental.
