Singapore Airlines names non-executive director

Singapore Airlines has named Helmut Panke to its board as an independent, non-executive director, with effect from September 1, 2009.

Mr Panke was with BMW from 1982 to 2006. During this time he served in a number of senior positions, including executive chairman of the board of management from May 2002 to August 2006, and chairman and CEO of BMW US Holding from 1993 to 1996.

Dr Panke is currently serving on the board of Microsoft. He also serves on the board of directors of UBS, and the supervisory board of Bayer.
