Bank of East Asia H1 profit up

The Bank of East Asia has reported that net profit attributable to owners of the parent was HK$1.17 billion, or HK$0.64 per share, for the first six months ended June 30, 2009, compared to HK$785 million, or HK$0.43 per share, for the first six months ended June 30, 2008.
Profit before taxation for the first six months of 2009 was HK$1.67 billion, compared to HK$1.07 billion for the first six months of 2008.
For the first half of 2009, operating income was HK$4.95 billion, which is 34.3% greater than the HK$3.68 billion recorded for the first half of 2008.
Net interest income for the first six months of 2009 decreased to HK$3.23 billion from HK$3.48 billion for the same period of 2008.
