NASA Awards Aircraft Maintenance Pact to Computer Sciences Corp

NASA AWARDS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE PACT TO COMPUTER SCIENCES CORP

NASA has awarded a follow-on contract to Computer Sciences Corp.'s Applied Technology Group of Fort Worth, Texas, to support the agency's aircraft used for astronaut training, flight research and mission and program support. The contract has a potential value of approximately $163 million, if all options are exercised.

Work will be done under the Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Program to provide flight line, intermediate and depot level maintenance, repairs, modifications and engineering support for NASA aircraft. The aircraft are used at NASA's Johnson Space Center flight operations at Ellington Field in Houston and facilities in El Paso, Texas; NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; and NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va.

The potential overall value for NASA Dryden's portion of the cost-plus-award-fee effort is about $53.4 million, including options. Under the new pact, Computer Sciences Corp. will continue to provide maintenance support to a variety of research and mission support aircraft at NASA Dryden, including F/A-18, B-200 King Air, Gulfstream III, ER-2, Boeing 747SP, DC-8 airborne laboratory, Global Hawk, F-15, F-16, T-38, T-34, and the Ikhana (Predator B) aircraft.

This follow-on pact continues services provided by Computer Sciences Corp. under a previous contract that was effective from March 1, 2004 through Aug. 31, 2009. The new contract begins Sept. 1, 2009 and continues through Feb. 28, 2010. There are two one-year options available to extend the contract, if exercised.
