'1&1 Internet launches VDSL services'

German ISP 1&1 Internet will start offering VDSL services from 1 September in 53 German cities and parts of 550 municipalities, in total covering 33 percent of all German households. The introduction follows a wholesale VDSL agreement with Deutsche Telekom. 1&1 Doppel-Flat 25.000 costs EUR 39.99 per month including a broadband connection with 27,800/5,000 Kbps plus phone line and free calls to German fixed networks. For EUR 4.99 extra per month, the service offers 50,000 as maximum download speed. The tariff includes a VDSL modem called 1&1 Surf&Phone Box 50.000 WLAN for EUR 0. 1&1 also offers DSL HomeNet 50.000 for EUR 49.99 per month including a broadband line with 51,300/10,000 Kbps plus fixed telephony line and free calls to German fixed networks plus access to 1&1's video on demand portal Maxdome. This tariff includes the 1&1 HomeServer 50.000 for EUR 0 with 2 GB internal disk space and 1 GB online storage. At the same time, 1&1 introduces a new HD mediacenter for all 1&1 HomeNet users. The maxdome mediaCenter HD offers a 8 GB harddisk and direct access to Maxdome's video on demand library of more than 5,000 titles including around 200 HD videos. The mediaCenter HD is also prepared for future IPTV services and costs EUR 99.99.
