Alaska Communications Systems Group, (ACS), an Alaska-based integrated communications provider, announced that it was named "Best Wireless Provider" in the Anchorage Press "Press Picks" awards.
The Anchorage Press "Press Picks" is an annual state business survey. The awards, voted on by Anchorage residents, recognize top Anchorage businesses in more than 95 categories.
"This award reflects our commitment to be the highest quality voice and data wireless service provider in Anchorage, throughout Alaska and, through our roaming partners, the Lower 49 and Canada," said Liane Pelletier, ACS president and CEO. "Third party drive tests consistently demonstrate that we own and operate the best voice and data wireless network in the state. Our focus on network quality is paired with our focus on local customer service, at our store fronts and in our call centers with industry-leading customer experience. It is an honor for ACS to be recognized by the market as the best wireless provider, but our customers know we devote resources to earning their loyalty everyday."
In 2004, ACS was the first company to offer 3G high speed wireless data in the state, via CDMA EVDO Rev 0; in 2008, ACS was the first to deploy even higher data speeds via EVDO Rev A. ACS continues to enhance its network, investing more than $5 million just in 2009, deepening its EVDO Rev A 3G coverage.
