Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Q1 comparative store sales down

Department store operator Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse has reported that its comparative store sales decreased 6.9% for the first quarter ended August 29, 2009, compared to same quarter of fiscal 2009.

For the first quarter of fiscal 2010, net sales from continuing operations were $704.6 million, a decrease of 0.3%, compared to $706.7 million for the same quarter of fiscal 2009.

Tom Kingsbury, CEO of Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse, said: "Sales this quarter were in line with our plan as last year's comparable quarter is our most difficult comparison. Given our continued focus on expense management, we expect adjusted EBITDA in this quarter to increase versus last year."
