Tata Consultancy Services names new vice chairman

India-based Tata Consultancy Services, an IT services, consulting, business solutions and outsourcing firm, has appointed S Ramadorai as an additional director and designated him as the vice chairman of the company in a non-executive capacity with effect from October 6, 2009.

Mr Ramadorai, the present CEO and managing director, will retire from his executive and board position on October 5, 2009 on reaching the retirement age of 65 years as per the company's policy.

The board of directors has also confirmed the appointment of N Chandrasekaran, the present COO and executive director as the CEO and managing director of the company with effect from October 6, 2009.
