The Taraba State House of Assembly has recommended to the state government, the termination the consultancy contract awarded to Ideal concepts limited for the collection of Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) in the state.
Following the recent report that the state ranked last in terms of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the Assembly directed its committee on finance and appropriation to invite all officials in the state responsible for revenue collection.
Submmiting the committee report, chairman of the committee, Honourable Garba Shamaki, said the committee observed that the engagement of the consultants has not improved the state's Internally Generated Revenue.
He also stated that due process was not followed in the engagement of the consultants because the contract did not pass through open and competitive bidding. He said the contract was also not advertised and there was no issuance of due process certificate. This, he said, was a breach of both the Fiscal Responsibility Act and Public Procurement Law.
With the uncovering of the irregularities in awarding the consultancy contract, the committee recommended to the government that the contract should be terminated and re-award to more competent and serious consultants.
