Openbravo Earns Best of Open Source Award at InfoWorld
Sep 10, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
Openbravo, a developer of web-based open source Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Point of Sale (POS) solutions for businesses, has been named by InfoWorld as the "Best of Open Source Enterprise Software"' in IDG`s 2009 InfoWorld Best of Open Source Software (Bossie) Awards.
The Bossie awards celebrate the best open source products for business, including enterprise software, developer tools, networking software and platforms and middleware.
The article said: "Openbravo impresses with a well-developed point-of-sale solution, procurement and warehouse management tools, financial and accounting features, and production logistics for shop floor oversight. Further, Openbravo's plug-in architecture offers the same sort of extensive modularity found in SugarCRM and traditional commercial applications from the likes of SAP and Oracle. That means your developers can extend system functionality without worrying about stepping on core functionality. And the entire Openbravo system is supported by a healthy set of alerts, role-based user provisioning and access control, and a good Web-based UI."
Openbravo explained that it has launched several new products and added extensions to existing products over the past year. New products include Openbravo QuickStart and Openbravo Professional Subscription for Ubuntu. QuickStart is a recently announced simplified ERP solution for small and medium businesses that optimizes the management of sales, inventory, procurement and accounting. Openbravo Professional Subscription for Ubuntu provides expert support and business continuity for the entire open source software stack, which includes Openbravo ERP software, the Ubuntu operating system, application server and database.
Manel Sarasa, CEO of Openbravo, said, "It's great for our team and community to be recognized by leading experts such as InfoWorld and IDG. The award recognizes the comprehensive functionality, the innovative architecture and unbeatable cost effectiveness of our products. Companies adopting Openbravo know they choose a well known solution that will drive their business and they are supported by a global community that is tearing down old barriers and changing the rules of the game."
