Aruba Networks, a company specializing in wireless LANs and secure mobility solutions, announced that Britthaven has deployed adaptive Wi-Fi networks across 60 skilled nursing facilities and retirement homes in Kentucky, North Carolina and Virginia.
The facilities range in size from 37 to 250 beds, the company said, and many feature specialized therapy services. Pharmacy management and access to clinical documentation are business-critical tasks that require secure connectivity.
"From the moment we launched our trial deployments, Aruba stood apart from other vendors because its competitive differentiation had clear and tangible end-user benefits," said Bobby Jefferson, Britthaven's CIO. "We had a defined suite of tests to run to assess the robustness and security of the network, and Aruba alone was able to successfully pass every one of them."
Each of the 60 facilities is equipped with between 4 to 30 access points and a 3000 series controller, the company said. According to a release, the 3000 Series Controllers provide up to 8Gbps throughput and, depending on the model, support up to 2048 users and 512 remote access points.
"Britthaven's requirements are typical of enterprises with business-critical applications that must run non-stop across dozens or even hundreds of locations," said Manav Khurana, Aruba's head of industry marketing. "Aruba is focused on making these networks easier to deploy and manage by auto-adapting Wi-Fi operation at the network edge and centralizing management, encryption, and policy enforcement in the data center."
