Companies:
Spire Corp., a global solar company providing capital equipment to manufacture photovoltaic (PV) modules, turnkey manufacturing lines and solar PV systems worldwide, and Unicor - Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (Unicor), a government corporation authorized to operate industries in federal correctional institutions throughout the United States (U.S.), announced the signing of a non-exclusive Teaming Agreement to bring PV systems to the Federal Government.
Recently, Spire Solar announced the expansion of Spire Solar Systems. While continuing to supply commercial markets with solar photovoltaic electric systems, the company said the division has broadened its services to the U.S. federal market. As a full-service organization, Spire Solar Systems offers system designs and project management to accommodate federal organizations required to achieve the mandated renewable energy goals of 7.5 percent by 2013 required by the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT). Spire Solar is continuing its efforts to penetrate this market by combining its resources with Unicor.
"Spire Solar and Unicor teaming will strengthen Spire's presence in the federal market as well as provide Unicor with the engineering support they need to provide quality systems to their customer base," said Roger G. Little, Chairman and CEO of Spire Corp. "We are confident in Unicor's manufacturing knowledge of the federal market and equally confident in our systems engineering expertise. Together we bring something unique to the federal marketplace."
Julie Rozier, Public Information Officer for Unicor, said, "We look forward to working with Spire to deliver PV systems to the federal marketplace."
