MANILA -- Philippine stocks closed 1.15 percent lower on Tuesday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index dropped 32.37 to 2,789.36 while the all-share index declined by 15.94 points or 0. 89 percent to 1,784.72.
The trade volume reached 5.95 billion shares worth 4.01 billion pesos (83.02 million U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- The New Zealand stock market closed 0.93 percent lower on Tuesday with the benchmark NZSX-50 down 29.05 points at 3099.63, and a turnover of 101.95 million NZ dollars (71.51 million U.S. dollars).
Top stock Telecom was down 4 cents at 2.68 NZ dollars, while Fletcher Building rose 5 cents to 7.96 NZ dollars. Contact Energy fell 11 cents at 5.90 NZ dollars.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares closed higher Tuesday on gains in steelmakers and financial shares.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 18.49 points, or 1.13 percent, to a new yearly high at 1, 653.4.
The volume was moderate at 500.65 million shares worth 6.99 trillion won (5.4 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed mixed Tuesday with the key Nikkei index up 0.15 percent.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average gained 15.56 points to 10,217. 62.
The broader Topix index, however, was down 1.53 points, or 0.16 percent, to 932.52.

SHANGHAI -- China's benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange closed at 3,033.73 points Tuesday, up 6.99 points, or 0.23 percent, from the previous close.

HANOI -- Vietnam's stock market index, VN-Index, closed at 556. 75 points on Tuesday, up 0.16 point, or 0.03 percent, against the previous trading day.
A total of 72.34 million shares worth 3.63 trillion Vietnamese dong (203.55 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.

TAIPEI -- Share prices on the Taiwan Stock Exchange gained ground on Tuesday, with the weighted index moving up 89.31 points, or 1.23 percent, to close at 7,346.26.
A total turnover of 98.01 billion new Taiwan dollars (3.01 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks reversed opening gains to close at 20,866.37 on Tuesday, down 65.83 points, or 0.31 percent, from Monday's closing.
Turnover for the half-day session totaled 30.99 billion HK dollars (3.97 billion U.S. dollars), compared with Monday's full- day 50.87 billion HK dollars (6.52 billion U.S. dollars).

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's main bourse -- Dhaka Stock Exchange All Shares Price Index (DSI), the benchmark index, closed at 2,515.97 points on Tuesday, down 2.30 points or 0.09 percent from Monday's finish.
The total turnover came down to around 4.83 billion taka (about 68.94 million U.S. dollars) on Tuesday.

CANBERRA -- The Australian shares market finished steady on Tuesday after giving up earlier gains, weighed down by news of the federal government's plan to break up Telstra.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index closed up 9.2 points, or 0.2 percent, at 4540.3 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index gained 11.1 points, or 0.24 percent, to 4547.2 points.
---- KARACHI -- Equities at Pakistan's Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) fell into the red ink Tuesday as offshore investors continued to sell holdings while local investors remained sidelined for the most part.
The benchmark KSE 100-Index declined by 45.81 points to close at 9,029.45 levels, KSE 30-Index shed 64.29 points to end at 9,611. 86 levels, whereas KSE All Share Index lost 29.02 points to finish the day at 6,395.22 levels.

COLOMBO -- Share prices on the Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower on Tuesday, with the key Colombo All Share Price Index decreasing by 34.28 points or 1.20 percent to close at 2,827.97 points.
The highly capitalized Milanka Price Index also decreased by 40. 31 points or 1.27 percent to close at 3,145.91 points.
A total turnover of 888.11 million rupees (about 7.66 million U. S. dollars) was recorded during the day with a volume of 27.96 million shares being traded.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysia stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,207.47 up 4.11 points or 0.34 percent, and the Emas was at 8,113.73 up 33.88 points or 0.42 percent.
Turnover increased to 613.79 million shares valued at 1.01 billion ringgit Malaysia (288.57 million U.S. dollars).

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares were closed higher on Tuesday amidst weakening regional shares, supported by mining and automotive shares.
The market index was closed 37.407 points (1.57 percent) higher to 2,420.109 with transaction volume of 4.716 billion shares worth 4.359 trillion (about 435.9 million U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- The shares prices in Singapore fell 1.34 points or 0.05 percent on Tuesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index ( STI) closed at 2,638.40 points.
