NCR and Ultra Electronics Announce Partnership to Extend Self-Service to Airports Worldwide

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), a leading global provider of self-service solutions, and Ultra Electronics, one of the world's foremost providers of aviation industry solutions, today announced they have joined forces to help airports lower costs and meet growing passenger demand for self-service convenience.

Ultra's portfolio of agent-facing common-use solutions, branded UltraCUSE, allows multiple airlines to share the same workstations and peripherals, making more efficient use of airport resources. Likewise, NCR's common-use kiosk solutions, deployed in more than 300 airports worldwide, optimize use of airport real estate while addressing passengers' growing expectation to serve themselves.

Combined, solutions from NCR and Ultra address the entire spectrum of common use passenger processing systems (CUPPS). The partnership will also create complementary services organizations capable of addressing the needs of virtually any airport, anywhere.

"Ultra's goal to provide best of breed solutions to airports is paramount, we see NCR as the perfect partner for CUPPS," said Dale Kirby, vice president, Ultra Electronics Airport Systems.

According to IATA's 2009 Corporate Air Travel Survey, more than 50 percent of passengers worldwide want more self-service options. Designed to facilitate the adoption of self-service among airports and airlines, IATA's Fast Travel Programme represents annual savings of up to US$1.6 billion for the industry and a better travel experience for the customer.

"NCR is focused on driving self-service innovation across multiple industries, wherever the consumer interacts," said Theresa Heinz, vice president and general manager, NCR Travel and Gaming. "As we see airlines embrace and benefit from this passenger-driven convenience, we believe airports can achieve a similar impact on efficiency and passenger satisfaction. Partnering with Ultra will allow us to deliver these benefits as part of a seamless and proven airport solution."
