DZNPS to provide maintenance services for TVA's nuclear power plant

US-based power plant maintenance and modifications contractor Day & Zimmermann NPS has secured a $50 million contract from the Tennessee Valley Authority, pursuant to which Day & Zimmermann NPS will provide services to assist in the completion of Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar Unit 2 nuclear plant in Spring City, Tennessee
Day & Zimmermann NPS (DZNPS) has said that it will be providing managed task, maintenance and modification, and refurbishment services in support of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and its partners.
The contract will consist of the replacement, refurbishment, modification, and installation of major plant components by performing mechanical, electrical and civil work primarily in the plant's turbine building and other areas.
Completion of the plant is expected by 2012. When completed and operational, the plant will generate 1,177MW of electric power and is expected to result in the creation of 250 permanent jobs and the use of 2,300 contract workers during construction.
