Voiceserve Inc. announced that its Voipswitch software has been accepted as a member of the Symbian Foundation, enabling Voipswitch to further develop and deploy mobile solutions for devices based on the Symbian operating system (OS).
As a member of the Symbian Foundation, Voiceserve said it gains the immediate right to license the Symbian Foundation platform, royalty free and without source code fees; to participate in working groups and in the governance of the foundation; and to participate in joint marketing and branding campaigns.
"Generating new revenue streams has become a critical requirement for network operators," said Dr. Chris Oglaza, CTO and co-founder of Voipswitch. "Symbian is truly a significant platform of choice for connectivity. We will partner with the Symbian platform and we expect the two companies to continue to provide the industry with technologies and services in the coming months."
With Voipswitch joining the Symbian Foundation, other Foundation members can integrate the VoipSwitch multi-modal features that enhance user experiences.
The Symbian Foundation, together with its ecosystem, is creating an open and complete mobile software platform, which is based on Symbian OS and software assets contributed by Nokia, NTT Docomo, and Sony Ericsson, including the S60 and MOAP(S) user interfaces. Symbian OS is an open mobile operating system, which has shipped in over 250 million mobile devices to date.
