Subway Expands Universal Delivery Solutions Pilot Agreement

UDS Group, Inc. announced that their pilot agreement with Subway has been extended into 2010, and that Washington, D.C. has been selected to be the first major market to introduce Subway Catering & Delivery (SCD) utilizing the UDS proprietary delivery management solution.

The SDC launch is scheduled for October (2009) in D.C., which is ranked as the 8th Nielsen Media Market, with 450 Subway restaurants.

Until now UDS has been engaged by Subway franchisees on an individual basis in various markets. Using the 888-SUB-TO-GO phone number and Subway Catering & Delivery Platform all participating franchisees are networked to serve orders on a collective basis.

In a concerted marketing effort, media advertising and in-store promotion, including television, radio, newspaper, and direct mail, UDS is receiving support from the D.C. market franchise advertising fund and Subway to build consumer awareness of the 888-SUB-TO-GO number and online ordering capability being introduced for the first time

"We want consumers to think of Subway first for catering and delivery," said Ryan Coblin, CEO and Chairman of UDS Group. "One of the most recognized of all brands, Subway will now be delivering regular menu items and catering options direct to the door of businesses, residences and other venues."

"SDC will partner with UDS and is excited about the opportunities this program brings for our franchise owners to target the corporate and residential catering markets," noted David Dickerson, VP of Operations.

The Subway restaurant chain is a submarine sandwich franchise with more than 28,500 locations in 86 countries. The Subway chain has surpassed McDonald's number of locations throughout the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
