Monotype Imaging Signs On to Samsung Mobile Innovator Program

Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc., a provider of text imaging solutions, announced it has joined Samsung Mobile Innovator program as a core member and has made its FlipFont mobile font download solution available from Samsung's new Application Store.

The Samsung I8910 HD Symbian-based full touchscreen phone is the first handset that allows users to navigate the Application Store to access FlipFont, which enables consumers of supported phones to personalize their user interface, menus and various applications with type from Monotype Imaging.

As part of Samsung Mobile Innovator program, Monotype Imaging said it will contribute multilingual font expertise and collaborate with Samsung to support developers, who will also have access to Monotype Imaging's fonts and font technologies tailored for Samsung's mobile development environment.

"Our goal is to work closely with Samsung to help developers bring typographically rich products to worldwide markets," said John Seguin, executive VP of Monotype Imaging. "We look forward to providing Samsung developers access to multiliingual, mobile-optimized fonts, in addition to capabilities such as enabling text to 'glow' or stand out from busy backgrounds."

Monotype Imaging's FlipFont solution allows consumers to download and activate typefaces selected from an expanding collection of mobile-optimized fonts. In addition to the I8910 HD touchscreen phone, FlipFont supports Samsung's GT-I8510, GT-I7110, SGH-L870 models. Users may access FlipFont directly through Monotype Imaging's e-commerce mobile Web site: flipfont.mobi.
