CA Security and Systems Management Solutions Now Ready for IBM Power Systems Software

CA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CA) today announced that several Security and Systems Management solutions are certified as Ready for IBM(R) Power Systems Software(TM). The solutions, which include CA Access Control and CA NSM, are designed to enhance the security of resources, increase asset utilization, and reduce the cost of managing IBM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) environments. CA's comprehensive solutions help customers increase the value of both virtualized and physical computing environments with integrated capabilities across IT management, governance and security.

"CA's Ready for IBM Power Systems Software products can help customers achieve Lean IT by maximizing the value of their IBM PowerVM(TM) virtualization technologies," said Stephen Elliot, vice president of strategy for CA's Infrastructure Management and Automation business unit. "While many organizations are realizing benefits from using IBM PowerVM virtualization technologies, they will achieve even greater agility, quality, efficiency and security by also using CA's Security and Systems Management solutions."

Virtual I/O Server is a special-purpose partition which provides virtual I/O resources to client partitions. The Virtual I/O Server owns the resources that are shared with clients. A physical adapter assigned to the VIOS partition can be shared by one or more other partitions. VIOS is designed to reduce costs by eliminating the need for dedicated network adapters, disk adapters and disk drives, and tape adapters and tape drives in each client partition. In order to become Ready for IBM Power Systems Software, IBM certifies compliance with each ISV's products that deploy agents into the VIOS partition.

"CA gained Ready for IBM Power Systems Software status using IBM's POWER6(R) servers in an IBM PowerVM environment," said Scott Handy, vice president, IBM Power Systems. "The IBM Power Systems family of servers includes proven server consolidation platforms that help users control costs while improving overall performance, availability and energy efficiency."

"We are pleased that CA NSM is certified as Ready for IBM Power Systems Software," said Alain Amans, head of Server Delivery, BNP Paribas Partner for Innovations. "Deploying CA's agents with our PowerVM virtualization technologies will allow us to make better use of our IT resources and reduce our costs."
