US-based Spare Backup has entered into a cloud and digital services agreement with British mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse. The launch of the consumer cloud platform will target the retailer's existing mobile user base.
Under the terms of the agreement Spare Backup (SPBU) has built a consumer digital services platform that consists of its storage and expanded cloud infrastructure. This will start with The Carphone Warehouse's (CPW) new customers throughout the over 800 CPW UK stores.
Customers will be provided with a storage and cloud offer, allowing them to try a variety of services, such as managing music, movies, mobile banking and apps. Spare Backup will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data and for the administration and operation of the consumer cloud platform.
Tom Guy, head of digital services and content at CPW, said: "We're very much looking forward to launching our digital platform with SPBU. We will not only be bringing every customer a content storage and syncing solution, but we have developed a contact strategy, built on providing relevant services, and tools enabling them to make the most of this technology."
