PPL appoints new chief risk officer

US-based power utility PPL Corporation has appointed Matt Simmons as its new chief risk officer. Mr Simmons replaces Vijay Singh, who is resigning from the company.
Mr Simmons, who has served as PPL's vice president and corporate controller for three years, has been named vice president of risk management and chief risk officer.
Mr Simmons has served as PPL's vice president and controller since February 2006. He has more than 20 years of auditing, accounting and risk management experience, much of it derived from his work in the capital markets and energy trading and marketing on both the domestic and international levels.
Paul Farr, executive vice president and CFO of PPL, said: "We thank Vijay for his efforts over the past seven years in establishing a robust, comprehensive risk management system at PPL. We wish him well as he moves on to new career opportunities."
