W. R. Berkley Appoints Carol J. LaPunzina as Senior Vice President - Human Resources

W. R. Berkley Corp. has announced the appointment of Carol J. LaPunzina as senior vice president - human resources, a newly established position.

LaPunzina will be responsible for human resource operations and personnel development for the corporation.

LaPunzina began her career with the corporation more than 11 years ago and brings legal, human resources and personnel related experience to her new role. Since 2004, she has served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Berkley Insurance Company, with prior oversight of human resources for several of the corporation's operating subsidiaries. Prior to joining the corporation, she was an associate attorney at a private law firm in New York, and she has over 23 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. According to a release, a search for a successor for her position at Berkley Insurance Company is currently underway.

W. R. Berkley Corp. is an insurance holding company that is among the largest commercial lines writers in the United States and operates in five segments of the property casualty insurance business: specialty insurance, regional property casualty insurance, alternative markets, reinsurance and international.
