Chinese Biggest Rooftop Solar Power Base Takes Shape

China's biggest rooftop photovoltaic power generation base started production recently.
The base is invested by Zhejiang Energy Conservation Industry Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary under China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation, with a dynamic investment of CNY 64.6272 million, and Astronergy will be responsible for the construction.
The base is located in the Qianjiang Economic Development Zone, Hangzhou City, capital of Zhejiang Province, east coastal China, with a total installed capacity of 2MW and a solar panel installed area of near 9,000 square meters. It is predicted to reach a yearly power generation of 2 million kilowatt hours. In addition, all the electricity will be transferred to Hangzhou's power system. It can save 8 million tons of coal equivalent and reduce carbon dioxide emission of 13.2 million tons per year.
Hangzhou plans to install solar panel of 700,000 square meters by 2013, with an installed capacity of 70 MW, according to a layout released by the local government.
