HP Wins California Department of General Services Contract Worth $80 Million Annually

HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced that the State of California Department of General Services selected HP notebook, tablet, workstation and desktop PCs and displays under a competitively bid two-year contract worth up to $80 million annually.

The contract contains options to extend for two additional one-year periods. This refreshed PC environment includes statewide public sector segments such as education, public safety and healthcare.

Close relationships with systems integrators Western Blue and Insight Public Sector throughout a competitively bid process contributed to the State's selection of HP as a technology provider.

As a California-based company, HP maintains a strong relationship with the State, helping to enable the delivery of "consistent, innovative, reliable and secure services that satisfy the needs of residents, business and public sector agencies," as outlined in the California IT Strategic Plan.

"Federal, state and local government IT decision makers trust HP's time-tested legacy of innovation and proven global hardware leadership," said Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president, Personal Systems Group, HP. "HP is proud to help the State of California answer the call for competitive pricing, always-improving security, energy efficiency, transparency and streamlined operations in government."

HP's long-standing commitment to environmental leadership and sustainability initiatives through its HP Eco Solutions program -- which spans product design, reuse and recycling as well as energy and resource efficiency -- aligns with the State's national stature in these same areas.

The desktop, workstation, tablet and notebook PC products offered in the state contract have an Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT(R)) Gold rating and are ENERGY STAR(R) qualified.
