SpringSource, a division of VMware, Inc., and developer of Java application infrastructure and management, announced it will host SpringOne 2GX, the company's fifth annual developer conference, being held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans from October 19-22.
This year, SpringOne Americas is partnering with the Groovy/Grails Experience Conference (2GX) for a technical exploration of the Spring ecosystem along with the latest developments in Groovy and Grails, Apache Tomcat and Hyperic technologies.
SpringSource and No Fluff Just Stuff Symposium Series are co-producing this Java event of 2009. The four-day conference is an opportunity for application developers, solution architects, web operations and IT teams who develop, deploy and manage business applications to share insights on current development challenges and to showcase the latest advances in Spring and Groovy/Grails technologies.
As the driver behind the conference, SpringSource announced the participation of platinum sponsors VMware, Accenture, Adobe and Microsoft; gold sponsors Blu Age, Alfresco and Terracotta; and silver sponsors Chariot Solutions, Orange and Bronze Software Labs, Rivet Logic and Skyway Software.
"Developers are using VMware and SpringSource solutions together to streamline Java application development and deployment. Together, our products provide a platform for the whole applications lifecycle-from building an application to running it with all the benefits of virtualization, to managing it for optimum performance and availability," said Parag Patel, VP of alliances at VMware. "We're eager to sponsor SpringOne for the second year running because the event provides Spring developers with tools to simplify Java application development, from the desktop to the datacenter to the cloud."
"Our clients are continuing to explore the benefits of open source and we continue to be substantial users of open source, particularly in custom Java development," said Tony Roby, who leads open source at Accenture. "Organizations are demanding that critical business systems using open source technology are delivered with the same rigor and success as solutions built on proprietary alternatives."
"We've seen tremendous customer demand for an integrated, enterprise solution combining the open source Spring framework with the open source Flex framework," said Dave Gruber, group product marketing manager at Adobe. "SpringSource and Adobe have worked together to deliver a scalable offering enabling Java developers to build and deploy cross-platform rich Internet applications."
"We share SpringSource's vision in making lives easier for developers and enabling simple access to services regardless of platform. At SpringOne 2GX Microsoft will demonstrate our joint, open source work with SpringSource for better interoperability," said Jean Paoli, general manager of Interoperability Strategy at Microsoft. "SpringSource is a well regarded name within the developer community and we look forward to participating alongside the world class developers that will be attending the New Orleans event."
SpringSource said the event has already confirmed several speakers, including Rod Johnson, the founder of Spring and the general manager of SpringSource, a division of VMware; Javier Soltero, the founder of Hyperic and datacenter architect at SpringSource, a division of VMware; Graeme Rocher, senior staff engineer and head of Grails development at SpringSource, a division of VMware; and Guillaume Laforge, staff engineer and head of Groovy development at SpringSource, a division of VMware.
