Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today announced the appointment of Michael A. (Mick) Murray as chief financial officer. As a key member of the executive management team, Mr. Murray will focus on positioning the company for sustained profitability and long-term growth. Mr. Murray was most recently senior vice president, Finance, and chief accounting officer at Yahoo! Inc.

"He brings deep technology industry experience and an impressive background in financial processes and controls. Mr. Murray has more than 25 years of financial and operational expertise in both corporate and public accounting environments. Prior to joining Yahoo!, he served as vice president and corporate treasurer for Sun Microsystems, Inc. With Sun from 1989 to 2004, he held financial and accounting roles of increasing responsibility. Mr. Murray began his career at Price Waterhouse, where he spent 12 years based in San Francisco and Dublin, Ireland.

Mr. Murray will be based at the company's headquarters in San Jose, Calif.
