Protiviti Launches Unified Security Solution to Help Businesses Address Data Security Risks

New Governance Portal for Information Technology Improves Security
Governance for Companies while Facilitating Compliance with Policies and
    Regulations in Cost-Effective Manner

Protiviti Inc., a global business consulting and internal audit firm, has introduced the first product in its new Governance Portal for Information Technology series: a security solution to mitigate data security risks and avoid costly data breaches and reputation damage. The Governance Portal is an industry-leading governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software platform that allows organizations to address multiple GRC objectives.

Organizations today seek tools to organize and automate their approach to security assessment. The new Governance Portal for Information Technology's security solution enables companies to determine whether their existing security control environments meet various international regulations and standards, including EU Data Directive, ISO 27001, PCI, GLBA, HIPAA, AICPA and PIPEDA. This process allows organizations to easily diagnose and understand where information security problems occur so they can take steps to certify, comply, interpret, or prioritize security-related initiatives.

"Instead of acquiring separate solutions for finance, IT and other business units, many enterprises are choosing to use a single EGRC platform," writes Gartner in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance Platforms (August 2009). "Reporting and managing through a single platform gives executives, auditors and managers a holistic view of the enterprise's risk and compliance postures, as well as views sorted by requirement, entity and geography."

The information security capabilities of the Governance Portal for Information Technology enable customers to:

    <<

-- Validate the control environment through certification, testing and
        monitoring
-- Identify threats that could harm and adversely affect critical
        operations
-- Estimate the likelihood that identified threats will materialize
-- Track action plans from identification to closure
-- Estimate the potential loss for the most critical and sensitive assets
        and operations

-- Demonstrate corporate stewardship and process maturity.

"One of our key strengths is the ability to deliver new content-rich solutions based on market need and our customers' continued progression toward more integrated governance, risk and compliance," said Scott Gracyalny, managing director and global leader of Protiviti's Risk Technology Solutions practice. "With the addition of the unified security solution to the Governance Portal, customers have the ability to install once and then tap into a continuously growing Protiviti solutions library with ready-to-upload content and related reports to adopt various security risk-assessment measures on an ongoing basis."

The Governance Portal integrates Protiviti's proprietary content and consulting expertise with commonly accepted governance frameworks to establish a comprehensive platform that gives organizations the visibility and insight they need to manage and mitigate critical risk and compliance issues.
