Plans to change name of Beaconsfield Mine

Beaconsfield Gold's investors are set to vote on a name change to BCD Resources. The Beaconsfield Mine operated by it will also revert to its historically used name of Tasmania Mine, due to the association most Australians now have of Beaconsfield with the rockfall disaster that killed an employee underground in early 2006. The company is profitable, will mine at the site until at least 2012, and has a good resource. Malaysia Smelting Corporation is divesting its 22% holding at about $A10m to a single purchaser.
