Sun Releases Updated Java Communications Suite

Sun Microsystems, Inc. has announced availability of its Java Communications Suite 7.
"Our constant efforts to deliver the best possible customer experience led us to choose Java Communications Suite," Pierre Roy, VP, IP Technology at Videotron said. "Its stability coupled with its cost effective scaling enables us to serve more than a million customers and to expand as our needs grow. The new features in Java Communications Suite will allow us to expand our leadership in providing our users with more functionality."
Features of Sun Microsystem's Java Communications Suite include:
- Calendar Server 7 -supports the latest CalDAV standard, enabling interoperability with other calendaring clients like Mac iCal and Mozilla Lightning, and offers native calendar synchronization with mobile devices that support CalDAV, including the Apple iPhone.
- Indexing and Search Service - provides real-time indexing and search of messaging content, including attachments in a variety of data types such as PDF, Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org.
- Messaging Server 7 Update 3 - delivers a scalable, secure messaging platform that supports operating environments and now adds Red Hat 5.
- Instant Messaging 8 Update 2 - offers a scalable, standards-compliant instant messaging and presence platform that supports IM in mobile devices and interoperability with other IM networks, namely AOL, MSN and Yahoo.
- Sun Convergence 1 Update 3 - features a Web client for the Java Communications Suite email, calendaring, contacts, IM and other Web services. This update of Convergence enables searches of email attachments using the new Indexing and Search Service, provides access to external POP email, supports all browsers and adds Internet Explorer 8.
