China Unicom Adjusted International Roaming Charges

China Unicom (Hong Kong) Limited (NYSE: CHU, HKSE: 0762 and SHSE: 600050) adjusted charges on mobile phone international roaming and data services, optimizing fee structure for main destinations.
The telecom carrier had filed the proposal to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and executed the new policy from September 28, 2009, said persons in the know.
So far, China Unicom has offered GSM/WCDMA international roaming services in cooperation with 360 telecom operators in 215 countries and territories, opened GPRS /WCDMA data international inbound services in cooperation with 198 telecom operators in 121 countries and territories, and launched GPRS/WCDMA data international outbound services in cooperation with 142 telecom carriers in 96 countries and territories.
China Unicom lured 807,000 GSM cellular service subscribers in August 2009, driving the total number of its GSM cellular service users to 141.864 million, according to the telecom carrier's monthly operational statistics unveiled on September 21.
