Glowpoint, Inc., a provider of video communications solutions, announced a new interop service that enables businesses to connect Cisco TelePresence Rooms with standards-based telepresence and traditional video conferencing systems, which were formerly incompatible.
Defined as "interoperability as a service" (IaaS), the company noted, the service is now available upon request to businesses around the world.
"We've been helping customers navigate through the challenges of mixed video environments for the past ten years," Glowpoint President and co-CEO Joe Laezza said. "Now, with increasing expectations and business demand for video communications, we are able to offer a solution that breaks down the barriers that have emerged between various telepresence and video conferencing technologies, especially regarding Cisco's current version of telepresence."
Glowpoint said its IaaS provides a simple solution to address one of the primary challenges for organizations deciding which telepresence solution to deploy - Cisco, Polycom, Tandberg, LifeSize, or another. The service is also intended to help businesses drive adoption and increased usage of their video communications systems. This service further complements Glowpoint's current suite of managed video and business-to-business (B2B) services and may be used in conjunction or independently, the company noted in a release.
