'Virgin music service to have download limits - report'

Virgin Media's planned music download service is set to launch without an unlimited top-tier offering. Unnamed sources have told The Register that the top-tier will offer 40 MP3 downloads for GBP 15 per month, instead of offering unlimited downloads as promised by Virgin when it announced the plans with Universal Music in June. The service will offer unlimited streaming. A Virgin spokesperson told The Register that it was still working towards offering an unlimited download package. Sources indicate that Sony Music appears to be blocking the plans, but added that Virgin was still hoping for a launch before Christmas.
