New Hitachi high speed drives now available

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST), part of Hitachi Ltd (NYSE:HIT) (Tokyo:6501), today announced the availability of two new high speed hard drives, the Ultrastar C15K147 and the Ultrastar 15K600.
The Ultrastar C15K147 is a 15,000RPM 2.5" 6Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) device and is available in 73GB and 147GB capacities. It features a 64MB cache buffer and uses Hitachi's patented Advanced Power Management technology to reduce power consumption.
The Ultrastar 15K600 is a 15,000RPM 3.5" 6Gb/s SAS or 4Gb/s Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FCAL) device and is available in 300GB, 450GB and 600GB capacities.
Both families of drives are designed for reliability with Hitachi estimating 1.6 million hours mean time between failures.
The full range of Ultrastar drives are now available from Hitachi with hardware level encryption as an option. Expected retail prices for the drives were not made available.
