Sycamore SN 9000 Multiservice Switch Receives U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Products Listing Accreditation

Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR) today announced that, following successful completion of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) interoperability testing, the company's SN 9000 Intelligent Multiservice Switch is now approved for listing on the Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UCAPL).

JITC is a world-class test and evaluation organization focused on advancing global net-centric testing in support of the DoD's warfighting capabilities. The JITC approved product list is created for the Defense Information Systems Agency to globally share testing approvals for a wide variety of DoD applied communications equipment, including optical switching and transport systems.

With this latest milestone, military and defense agencies in the Joint community can deploy the SN 9000 Intelligent Multiservice Switch with confidence, knowing the product has met JITC's stringent requirements for interoperability (IO) and information assurance (IA). In addition, these agencies can achieve enhanced levels of multiservice on-ramp efficiencies and bandwidth-on-demand flexibility through intelligent networking software shared across Sycamore's optical switching platforms, including the SN 16000 Intelligent Optical Switch, which serves as the cornerstone of DISA's global optical switched network.

"As circuit and packet convergence at the network edge drives the need for enhanced levels of multiservice flexibility and multi-layer interoperability, we believe the SN 9000 offers a compelling advantage to government agencies evolving their communications networks," said Kevin Oye, vice president of systems and technology at Sycamore Networks. "JITC certification and APL accreditation demonstrate our ability to deliver high-value solutions with proven reliability, usability, and performance."
