Dutch cable operator Ziggo awarded a contract to Nokia Siemens Networks
to expand and upgrade its VoIP network. The new equipment is expected
to offer customers improved Internet telephony services with
value-added features such as three-way conferencing and a voicemail
system with e-mail notifications. It should also lower Ziggo's
operating costs, the company said. Providing a turnkey solution, Nokia
Siemens Networks will also ensure seamless interworking with Ziggo's
existing network. Nokia Siemens Networks provided consulting support
and worked with Ziggo on the joint architecture and network roadmap.
Deliveries will begin in October, and the new systems will be taken
into commercial use during the first half of 2010.
