HP expands TouchSmart portfolio

Computer manufacturer HP (NYSE:HP) yesterday announced three new products for its TouchSmart range of computers, together with technology updates for the HP TouchSmart tx2.

New to the HP range are the HP Pavilion dv3, the HP TouchSmart600 and the HP TouchSmart300. These three, and the HP TouchSmart tx2, now feature the latest version (3.0) of HP's TouchSmart software, which offers touch-aware applications such as Calendar, Clock, Music, Notes, Weather, TouchSmart Browser, TouchSmart DVD, TouchSmart Blu-ray DVD, TouchSmart RSS and TouchSmart Webcam and, new in the latest release, TouchSmart Canvas and TouchSmart Live TV.

The HP Pavilion dv3 has a 13.3" LED touchscreen display in a clamshell case and NVIDIA GeForce G105M integrated graphics with 512GB video memory. It can be supplied with a range of Intel processors and comes with Windows 7 as standard.

The HP TouchSmart600 desktop PC features a 23" HD widescreen display and is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with NVIDIA GeForce graphics. It can be supplied with up to 4GB RAM and up to a 1TB HDD. Some models are available with TV tuner, remote and Blu-ray drive and game console connectivity is also an option. Wireless connectivity is provided in both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a wireless keyboard and mouse are standard.

The lower specification HP TouchSmart300 has a 20" screen, AMD processor, ATI Radeon graphics and a maximum of a 500GB HDD and lacks Bluetooth connectivity.

The updated HP TouchSmart tx2 features a 12.1" BrightView touchscreen which can be twisted and rotated to suit the user's requirements at the time. It comes with an AMD Turion X2 dual core processor, ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics and Microsoft Windows 7 as standard.

The Pavilion dv3, TouchSmart600 and TouchSmart tx2 will be available from 22 October with recommended street prices in the UK of GBP799, GBP1199.99 and GBP799 respectively, while the TouchSmart300 will be on sale from 16 November for GBP899.
