Untangle Selects IPA's Subscription Billing to Streamline and Automate its "Freemium" Subscription Business Model

On-demand billing experts IP Applications (IPA) (http://www.ipapplications.com), announced that it's customer, Untangle (http://www.untangle.com), has gone live with IPA's subscription billing platform. Using IPA, Untangle has successfully streamlined their complex subscription processes, and is now able to monitor their subscription business in real-time.

Untangle, a California based company, offers customers an integrated family of applications to consolidate network and security products that businesses need at the network gateway. In June 2009, Untangle surpassed the one million mark in users protected by its gateway applications network.

"Untangle is a perfect example of an established company, providing a complex set of subscription services from the cloud. Untangle's selection of IPA confirms our market leading capabilities. We are proud to be equipping their business with our unique subscription billing services." says John Jacobson, President and CEO of IPA.

Untangle required an enterprise class billing system to accommodate their 'freemium' business model (http://blog.untangle.com/?p=123), in which a set of free products are provided to some customers, and a more advanced, premium set are paid for by an additional set of customers.

Untangle selected IPA's subscription billing solution based on it's comprehensive product catalog, and it's open application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow Untangle to quickly automate their processes without having to conform to limitations of a typical billing system.

In choosing IPA, Untangle has achieved the following:

Real-time monitoring and management of their subscription business, The ability to launch new subscription offerings quickly and easily, and Complete integration of the IPA solution into Untangle's online storefront and business processes using IPA's open billing APIs.

"It was critical for us to find a partner with a system that could accommodate our multi-channel business model. We didn't want to change our entire business to fit into the requirements of the billing engine. IPA's flexibility and robust application programming interface (API) allowed us to integrate quickly." states Mark Floisand, Chief Operating Officer at Untangle.

"We now have the ability to easily roll out new subscription offerings to our customers that we just couldn't achieve before. Equally importantly, we're able to measure and manage our subscription business in real time."

In June 2009, IPA released Subscription Billing v5.0 (http://www.ipapplications.com/pdf/NR_new_product_launch_Jun_25_2009.pdf) that boasts the first ever "out-of-box" storefront allowing businesses to quickly and easily launch products and expand business into the SaaS market place. IPA has worked with more than 100 customers worldwide that include AOL Canada, Sprint and Amway.
