ProMedica Health System & Language Access Network Sign Video Language Services Agreement

ProMedica Health System selected the Language Access Network ("LAN") as its exclusive partner to provide two of its hospitals video language interpretation services addressing the needs of its growing Limited English Proficient and Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patient populations. These services will be delivered via LAN'S dedicated HIPAA compliant high-speed broadband network and through its proprietary remote video interpretation platform known as Marttitm. Martti stands for My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter.

"Clear and open communication is vital in determining proper patient care, driving the best health outcomes and creating an environment that fosters a trust relationship between the patient and provider," said Jewell Lightner, Director of Corporate Diversity. She continued, "Providing easy to use, readily available access to language interpretation services helps provide the highest quality care for ALL patients, not just native English speakers and helps us care for the patient with the most appropriate resources."

"ProMedica is a true leader in its commitment to providing a culturally competent environment for its patients," said Andrew Panos, COO of Language Access Network. In 2006, ProMedica's Flower Hospital became one of the first hospitals in the U.S. to earn certification for its competent treatment of diverse patient populations from The Center for Multicultural Competency in Healthcare Organizations (CMCHO), an independent organization created to certify health care organizations in multicultural competency. "We are pleased that an organization with their deep knowledge and leadership in language services and cultural competency has selected LAN as their exclusive best practice service provider."
