Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc., a facilities-based communications company with operations in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, announced the opening of its Chicago office as part of its strategy to gain market share in the business customer segment.
Led by former Cbeyond sales executive Kevin Weber, the Chicago office will focus on providing hosted PBX (Private Branch Exchange) services to small and medium-sized businesses in the Midwest region.
"With a concentration of numerous small and medium sized businesses, Chicago and the Midwest region as a whole represent a significant opportunity for Primus to tap into a market that has been underserved from a telecommunications perspective," said Weber. "Moreover, at a time when businesses are facing severe capital constraints, Primus' hosted PBX and SIP services provide a communications solution - and can save companies up to 40 percent on their current bills with no upfront capital required. Our services can meet today's needs and, at the same time, provide critical scalability and continuity to address demands as they evolve."
Primus' Hosted PBX, a voice (phone) and data system centralized in a data hosting center, is a turn-key managed solution. It obviates the need for any capital investment or on-site technical representatives as well as eliminates other costs and hassles associated with owning and managing onsite equipment. Because the service is hosted, Primus' service allows customers to keep the same phone numbers regardless of their location and the customer can add or reduce the number of lines depending on their business needs, the company noted in a release.
